Designer Comments: 1 LL, 1 ML and 1 MG uses cheap, readily available technology. By readily available, I mean there are thousands of Large and Medium Lasers out there, compared to hundreds of PPCs. Taken from the Marik sourcebook, 300 PPCs is apparently a very big deal. Large Lasers cost only half as much, if GDI is planning on buying things en masse for mounting in tanks, and if building on its own then at least is much easier to understand and duplicate than Particle Projection technology.
The Lanzenreiter (Lanzer) can go up to 80kph, well within what tankers are used to, has 160 points of armor (enough to take an AC/20 and keep on ticking), and more importantly, uses the class 200 Fusion Engine available from the Outworlds Alliance. It may be possible later to get them to make larger, more powerful Engines, but for the moment it's the best GDI can get in any sane quantity.
